I can print a document to the HP, but if I attempt to print a second document at a later time the application Word, Excel, or Powerpoint freezes up with a message that "Word is preparing to background print to Opening the printer box reveals that the document is "spooling". I have let it "spool" for hours.

The Office app "is not responding". Attempts to close it produce options: Restart, Close or Wait. If you close or restart and attempt to print a document to the HP it will not print. If you restart the application and attempt to print the same document to a different printer on the network, it prints fine. This happens with all types of files and documents, new and old and text documents with only the word "test" in them.

The only "fix" is to reboot the computer. However you only get to print one job before it happens again. This only happens when printing from an office application. If you print from other applications to this printer everything is fine. However, once this has started in an office application no other application can print to the HP It only happens with Office desktop on an i5 based computer and a surface pro 4.

We have other computers running Office that do not have this problem. There are 2 other printers on the network; a HP p and a Xerox Phaser Office prints to them or prints to a PDF without any problems.

I have reinstalled Office I have replaced printer drivers sourced from Microsoft and HP. I have downloaded and executed printer troubleshooters from both HP and Microsoft. Nothing has changed the behavior.

I recently purchased a new i7 computer. Everything was perfect until I installed Office and then it immediately started happening again. This thread is locked. You can follow the question or vote as helpful, but you cannot reply to this thread.
